We had a dessert auction at our church to help raise money for one of the organizations. I decided to bake my Mema's famous banana cake and a recipe off Pinterest. I even recruited my husband and my mom to help! :)
The banana cake was something I've been wanting to master for a while but I'm sure it can't compare to my sweet Mema's. Hers is amazing!! The Pinterest recipe I decided on was pink cookies! I thought this would be perfect for Valentines season. It's a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe with pink or red food coloring.
I am a better baker than a cooker so this was fun for me. I think we all had a great time!

Meat Pies?
I heard of a new recipe and decided to try it out. I can't remember if this was on Pinterest or if this is something I heard on TV, but I just remember it sounding easy so I gave it a try.
1 can Pillsbury Grands biscuits
1 lb ground beef
1 can sloppy joe sauce/mix
BBQ sauce
Shredded cheese
Preheat oven according to biscuits. Brown & drain meat. Add sloppy joe mix and BBQ sauce (about 1/4 cup) to meat. On un-greased pan flatten out biscuits. On each one place a bit of meat mixture and shredded cheese. Fold dough over meat & cheese and seal each one by pressing dough and/or pinching together. Bake according to biscuit directions.
Josh loved them!! Said its his new favorite dish :)! Yay, home run!! And so, so easy. I don't know what this dish is called so Josh is calling it a MEAT PIE! I served it with broccoli with cheese and mashed potatoes.

Taking advantage of the indoors
Having the girls share a room is awesome. They are so close because of it. But the down side is that when Ashlan takes a nap, Mady can't play in her room. Normally Mady and I would head outside (as you know from my previous post the girls got lots of outdoor fun for Christmas) but on days like today when it's freezing and overcast we are stuck indoors.
But we decided to make the best out of it! I always have fun getting to teach her numbers and colors, but its something I should do more often. She loves to learn so much. We did several pages in different workbooks, learned about the number 9, and practiced spelling her name. I had a good time with my little Mady Moo and I know she loved it as well!

Crafts & Projects
We've been a little busy around the Laney house. I had a tutu order from an ex coworker of mine. It was for her niece and I had my girls try it on to see how it would look. Turned out pretty cute I thought.
Josh built Mady Blayke a clothes rack for her princess dresses (what an awesome daddy!). She looooooves to play dress-up. It is her favorite thing. So Josh built her one out of PVC pipe and spray painted it pink. It looks GREAT and she was so excited!
Lastly I made some picture frames for the kids' school work. I got this idea off Pinterest. Cover the inside with burlap and hot glue clips on the front. This way their work can be displayed and interchanged and leaves your fridge free ;). I put them on our dining table so everyone could see and the girls could see how proud we are of everything they've made!
